Connect to data hosted on FileMaker Server using any combination of FileMaker Pro, FileMaker Go and FileMaker WebDirect clients. Use concurrent connections to access solutions hosted on FileMaker Server from FileMaker WebDirect or FileMaker Go.

FileMaker Server includes one built-in concurrent connection.

Additional connections are available for purchase. FileMaker Server is fully adapted to support Central European, Middle Eastern, North African and Indian languages.

24/7 reliability and availability

Get access to your data with a 24/7. Protect your data with scheduled live back-ups, which run even while your databases are in use.

Industry-standard security

Manage user access through external authentication via Active Directory/Open Directory. Use SSL encryption for secure data transfer. Data is also secure while hosted on FileMaker Server using powerful 256-bit AES encryption. This requires FileMaker Pro Advanced to enable encryption on each database.

DBC/JDBC Support

Use ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) and JDBC (Java Database Connectivity) to read from and write to FileMaker databases hosted by FileMaker Server with many external programs and development tools. Support up to 50 simultaneous ODBC/JDBC remote connections.

Quick Installation and Administration

Most installations of FileMaker Server take less than 20 minutes so it’s easy to instantly start managing your databases remotely and automating administrative tasks. Create Administrator Groups and assign specific administrative tasks while retaining exclusive control of your server. Display a list of databases accessible to your team via the web with the Group Start Page.

Robust Scalability

Manage groups of FileMaker Pro users with reliable security and network performance. FileMaker Server does not restrict the number of networked FileMaker Pro clients. Technical limits are imposed by your hardware, database design, and operating system.

Web technology

Use the new, breakthrough web technology, FileMaker WebDirect, to run interactive database solutions in a web browser – no programming skills needed. Or use Custom Web Publishing to create custom, data-driven websites using PHP or XML.
WebDirect is available in Czech, Polish, Russian and Turkish.

FileMaker Data API trial

Use FileMaker data in other popular apps and services with the REST-based FileMaker Data API during the trial period which expires on September 27, 2018. Learn more about the FileMaker Data API.

Tableau Web Data Connector for FileMaker

Better visualize your FileMaker data with Tableau. The connector is a FileMaker Data API that provides integration with Tableau Desktop.

PDF support

Run automated reports and save other information as PDFs, using scripts performed on FileMaker Server.

OAuth 2.0 support for accounts

Simplify credential management by specifying OAuth 2.0 third-party authentication providers.

FileMaker Server 16 is available only as an electronic download. It includes product software and a link to an electronic license certificate that contains a license key needed for installation.

Hardware requirements

A dedicated computer is recommended for FileMaker Server.

Minimum RequirementsRecommended Requirements
CPU: Dual CoreCPU: 4-Core
Hard Drive: 80 GB or more, depending on file sizeHard Drive: 80 GB or more, depending on file size

Operating system drive requirements

FileMaker Server uses the operating system drive to provide temporary storage for progressive downloading, uploading and downloading apps, log files, and cache storage used by components such as the Web Server.
To maintain an optimal operating environment, FileMaker Server requires 80 GB or more of storage on the operating system drive even if apps are hosted on or backed up to another drive. The server administrator must monitor the operating system drive to make sure that enough storage is available.

Standby server

To use a standby server, there must be two server machines with identical configurations. Both machines must meet or exceed the recommended hardware requirements specified above - not the minimum hardware requirements. Standby server must be deployed on the same LAN as the primary server. Standby server is supported only for single-machine deployments and not supported for FileMaker WebDirect worker machines.
