About 24U SimpleDialog Plug-In:

24U SimpleDialog Plug-In allows FileMaker solutions to interact with users via professionally looking dialogs to provide excellent user experience with minimum development effort. Since its first release back in 2001 the plug-in has grown to a feature rich user interaction addition for FileMaker solutions, while still retaining its ease of use and offering syntax that’s as simple as the dialog it is supposed to display.

Most customers use 24U SimpleDialog primarily to save development time and provide better user experience in their solutions…

Vincenzo Menanno, director of FileMaker development at Beezwax, said at FileMaker DevCon 2014: “The biggest value that we get with SimpleDialog is creating solutions that look professional, keep the user informed, and provide us with a great solution for our clients. SimpleDialog is very easy to use and once we use it we use it over and over.”

Paul de Hallé, CEO of Linear Blue says: “One of the reasons we really like the 24U SimpleDialog Plug-In is not just it’s ease of use but its added value to the solutions that we develop for our clients. It allows us to put a level of functionality in some systems, that would not be possible with anything else.”

Sheep sorting is no longer a nightmare with 24U phidgets plug-in

Counting sheeps may put anyone asleep but for a sheep farmer sorting sheep a real madness and commercial solutions are too expensive. A new solution Sheep Sorter which works on FileMaker Pro with Phidgets 1017 relay using 24U Phidgets Plug-In has been developped so that for sheep farmers sheep sorting is no longer a real headache!

What are the solution’s benefits?

  • Price – this Sheep Sorter is cheaper than other commercial solutions
  • Sorting animals by many different attributes:
    • Age of the animal
    • Weight
    • Sex
    • Quantity which farmer wants to send in a given area
  • Possibility of additional features such as proximity reader

How does this solution work?

Sheep’s tag is read and input into the electronic scale. Than info is sent to Jacque’s flock management app written in FileMaker Pro.

The app reads the info, extracts the record for weighted sheep, calculates the weight gain, records the weight in the appropriate area. The app selects the door to open to transfer the sheep to the appropriate location.

The scale has 6 automated air controlled doors all controlled by the FileMaker application: one entry door, one main exit door and 4 “sorting doors” that are working according to the instructions given in the application. Each sorting door is activated depending upon a mix of variables: age of the animal, weight, sex and the quantity which farmer wants to send in a given area controlled by a given door.

The first 3 doors are such programmed, and the 4th door is an exit for the animals that either do not meet any of the criteria chosen by the producer or if an animal has received a medication for which the set aside period is not completed (its in the medical recor of he animal in the database).

24U Phidgets Plug-In sends appropriate information to the appropriate door for which the conditions are met, and I also control the synchronization between entry and exit doors, timers etc. Jacques has added a proximity reader, also controlled by our plugin to initiate the timers only when the sheep has started exiting the scale.

Support our partner 24U in the Green-Tech Pioneers -competition!

Our FileMaker Business Alliance partner 24U is participating in a competition  called “Green-Tech Pioneers” and we would ask you to help to support their project.

It is a project of two brothers from Netherlands who with the cooperation of 24U using the FileMaker platform have created the world’s first mobile system for automated planting.

It is a system that is able to fully automate the process of plant growing and you don’t need more than a few light “greenhouse” tubes and your own ideal recipe for growing the best tomatoes, paprikas or some exotic spices. You can just seed, connect a fertilizer tank, set up the parameters, and then you just watch your smart phone and see how your plants are growing up in any room, building, greenhouse, o wherever else depending on what and how much of that you want to grow. Even in your cellar or on Mars (a few years later).

Thanks to this system, you can cultivate anything in any place in the world. Tomatoes grown in desert, strawberries in a cellar? This system will make it reality. The plants grow in cells for which you simply set up all the environmental conditions and growth processes. Light amounts necessary for the growth, temperature, how often it should be watered and fertilized. You make the perfect conditions and your unique growing recipe and then just watch how the work gets done.

Planting will be made not only more efficient and cheaper but also more ecological with this system. At the time when population is growing faster than food production, climate changes harm food production and make it more expensive, mass usage of pesticides damages nature, harms our health, and kills bees, and the need to deliver food thousands of kilometers far pollutes our air, being able to grow healthy and nutritious groceries is invaluable. Is it possible to not support such project?

You can find more information about this way of planting, called City Farming, at http://24usw.com/gpcf

You can support the project at http://24usw.com/gpvt – vote by clicking on the “Stem” button. When you are finished with your voting, the button “Stem” will disappear. 24U has also prepared a quick voting guide for you, which you can find at http://24usw.com/gpgd

Please don’t hesitate, you can vote only till the Sunday, the 10th of December!
